splashes of colour

slowly slowly colour is creeping back into the world, after a grey winter. It’s so good to see dots of yellow purple green again! Roll on spring, and here’s hoping that this summer is as brilliant as last year’s.

A walk in Coole Park, a few weeks ago – cold, grey winter days, and yet this place holds its own beauty, in every weather and season.

No wonder it inspired so many poets – a lot of the Irish greats, like W.B. Yeats and G.B. Shaw stayed in Coole Park, and breathed the fresh air in the woodlands.

A beach day

Since Christmas, the weather has been atrocious – week after week of storms (that wreaked havoc along the coastline, and caused serious damage in many parts of the country).

This week, finally, the weather broke (at least for the moment, we’ll see how long it lasts) – and I made the most of the gorgeous sunny day on Tuesday and headed out to the beach.

What a treat to see some blue skies and sunshine again!

old meets … old

Every once in a while, I take out my old Voigtländer medium format camera and chase a roll of b/w film through it, which I then develop myself. Granted, I don’t do this as often as I would like, but what can you do. Life has other ideas these days :)

These were shot about six months back or so, and I absolutely love how they turned out. These shots look like they came from a forgotten era. Which, in a way, they do – old 1940s camera, medium format film, developed by hand… a world apart from today’s digital click-click-click ‘shoot as much as you want’ approach.
