feeding time

A heron, feeding on a small fish

This bird is a wild heron, but the picture was taken in Dublin Zoo – during feeding time for the penguins, actually! There were about four herons skulking around, nicking food from the penguins. Considering that in the wild, Humboldt penguins have to share their food with other birds too, though, I suppose the herons play their part in the game…

Another shot of the herons is this one here – probably not their best angle…?

  1. Love the first capture! I guess some would discount anything taken while in captivity. To me, it’s a great shot no matter where you happened to be when it was taken! Great job!

  2. Wow… How weird do they look from that angle… lol… I never realised their eyes were angled like that, but then I guess it makes perfect sense given their need to fish… Great shots Simone…

  3. The last one is a great angle.
