One thing that really struck me about New Zealand is how incredibly varied the landscape is. Rainforests, volcanic areas, plains, fiords, amazing mountains – and glaciers.
We went to both Franz Josef and Fox Glacier, staying near Franz Josef and taking a guided hike on Fox. I’d never even been near a glacier, and let alone one that’s only 300 metres above sea level, and about 20 km from the sea, and ends amongst mountains full of rainforest! It’s absolutely mindblowingly beautiful.
